Welcome to the Laf A Lot Rod and Gun Club, Inc. web page.  Laf A Lot has been dedicated to providing safe, enjoyable hunting and fishing on the middle peninsula for more than 85 years.  Laf A Lot was founded in 1923 and has approximately 100 members.  Laf A Lot promotes a fellowship of hunters and fishermen to pursue pleasure in the great outdoors and we foster and encourage these precepts in the younger generation.  Please browse our web site and see all that Laf A Lot has to offer.  As always, we encourage you to contact us with your comments and questions.

Dear Laf A Lot Members,

It is with great sadness that I have to pass along this message that Helen Rogers Oden, mother of Chico and Donnie, has passed away.  Please join me in expressing our deepest sympathies. Below is the obituary from The Daily Press (link at bottom).

NEWPORT NEWS - Helen Rogers Oden, 92, a native of Hampton, Virginia, passed away May 2, 2016. Helen was preceded in death by her loving husband of 69 years, George R. Oden; parents Maude Sinclair Rogers and Grover Coleman Rogers; four brothers, Faye, "Shine", Grover Lee and Bobby; three sisters, Rowena, Kitty and Anne. She is survived by two sons, George "Chico" Oden, Jr. (JoAnn), Donald Oden (Terry); daughter, Rita K. Oden; sister, Ola Mae Weatherford; brother, Cecil Rogers; grandchildren, Todd, Jody, Greg, Joel, Casey; great-grandchildren, Joshua, Sydney, Katelyn, Reese, Madison, and Bella Rose; several nieces and nephews; and many special friends, including Julie Wilson. Helen graduated from Hampton High School in 1941. She was a homemaker and an active member of Ivy Memorial Baptist Church for 60 years and the Joyful Gleaners Sunday School class. A celebration service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 5, 2016 at Ivy Memorial Baptist Church. The family will receive guests immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, please make donations payable to Ivy Memorial Baptist Church, Pantry Fund, 2200 Coliseum Drive, Hampton, VA 23666. Arrangements are in the care of Peninsula Funeral Home.
